THE COLLEGE LIST PACKAGE

The ultimate goal of The College List Package is to identify colleges that are a “good fit” for the student..

Here’s how it works:

Prior to the first meeting, the student provides me with an unofficial copy of their high school transcript of grades and any test scores (PSAT, PLAN, SAT, ACT, AP, Subject Tests, etc.) that they have received up to that point.
  • I meet individually with the student and have them explain their learning style, why they want to go to college, what they want to get out of their college experience, and identify the factors that are most important to them in choosing a college.

  • I meet with the parent(s) and ask them to share their hopes, dreams, feelings and expectations regarding their child’s college experience.  Parent(s) will also be asked to provide input regarding the degree to which college costs might or might not be a factor in the process of choosing a college.

  • The student, parent(s) and I then discuss the information that was obtained in the aforementioned meetings.

  • Based on the information that was gathered through meetings with the student and parent(s), and an analysis of the academic transcript, activities resume and SAT/ACT/Subject Test scores, I develop a list of colleges that could potentially be a “good fit” for the student.  In compiling that list, I spend a great deal of time doing research on particular colleges and draw upon the knowledge that I have acquired in providing college guidance to students over the past three decades.

  • Once I have compiled the list of colleges, I contact the student and parent(s) and schedule a meeting with them.  At that meeting, I provide them with the college list that I have prepared and explain why I included those particular colleges on the list. I then provide a general overview of each college that is on the list.

  • The student and parent(s) are made aware of steps that should be taken to learn more about the colleges that appear on the list.
